Mediatype Cut-Outs
Parables of So Cal

Spanning over 50 years, these galleries represent a sampling of Helen Redman's lifetime in the arts. Portraits, of both herself and others, have been central to her work since the 1960's. Several series have unfolded in response to various environments. The Moroccan Women was created between 1971-1972, while living in Casablanca. The Mediatypes of the Sexes, from 1975-80, reflects early feminist art, satirizing mass media and gender roles. Parables of So Cal, 1985-90, and Fitness Scrolls, 1991-92 chronical Redman's move to San Diego in 1984. Healing Art, 1964-2006 is a collection of imagery created to help Redman heal from surgeries and body trauma. Turtle Diaries, 2008-2011, plays with longevity and is the most recent body of work in this collection. Moroccan Women and Turtle Diaries are active galleries, stay tuned for the rest...
